Trauma Sensitive Yoga Presentation

If you are interested in learning more about what Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is and how it works, I have developed a presentation that goes over how trauma can impact the survivor's mind and behavior, the symptoms and how they may present in psychiatric and substance use disorders, the philosophical underpinnings, and the theories and principles that have led to the development of this treatment. This presentation can run anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes depending on how much information you would like to have, and includes a TCTSY practice at the end of the presentation.

TCTSY is not a typical yoga class that one might find if they were to attend a class at a yoga studio. It is a treatment for complex trauma (C-PTSD) or PTSD that is treatment-resistant (hasn't been able to be treated through other methods). In some ways it has total opposite principles than those of modern day yoga classes. This is very important for anyone who is working with trauma survivors, or who is a trauma survivor, who would like to implement yoga into their programs or their own recovery. Modern day yoga classes may even re-traumatize a survivor, and it is not recommended to try or implement a modern day yoga class that isn't trauma-sensitive or trauma-informed into your recovery or program. The presentation goes into more detail as to why this is the case.

Group sessions are offered on a tiered level:

  • $65.00 for those in need (no questions asked)
  • $85.00 for a usual individual rate around Athens
  • $120.00 for a supporter rate
